Certified Nurse Aide

Certified Nurses' Aide is now part of the Alaska Middle College School.

Certified Nurses’ Aide (CNA) class is a rigorous, fast-paced class designed to meet the curriculum requirements of the Alaska State Board of Nursing. This class includes supervised skills training and practice, as well as approximately 48 hours of clinical experience outside of the classroom with clients in long-term care facilities (nursing homes) and assisted living facilities. Upon successful completion of the course, students qualify to take the Alaska CNA exam in order to obtain their recognized CNA license. CNA’s are qualified to work in a variety of entry-level healthcare positions in hospitals, nursing homes, and home health. CNA’s provide direct hands-on care which requires a strong concept of safety and a high-level of maturity and empathy.

Grade level 12. Students are selected by application process and letters of recommendation (UAA screening for reading, writing and math is included in the application).
